About me

Who is Iraida Maeso?

My interest in weaving came later in life, yet somehow it had always been within me. I grew up watching my mother and grandmothers weave every day, with a calm that felt almost ritual. They were not only making sweaters or jackets for the little ones in the family — they were making a home.

I am Iraida, creator of Iraida Maeso

Years later, while decorating my home and searching for something that would reconnect me with myself, I discovered that space in weaving. I started out of curiosity: crochet, loom, latch hook… but it was macramé that completely captivated me.

For several years, I shared this technique with dozens of women through workshops in different cities across Spain and created bespoke commissions. I even exhibited a sculpture over six meters long at an art show, woven with more than ten thousand meters of rope.

But at some point, that way of creating was no longer enough. There was something deeper I longed to express.

I began to observe what it was that made me pause before certain spaces. Which elements evoked in me that feeling of calm, of retreat, of mental silence. I wanted to understand why an object or an environment can reconnect us with ourselves. This is how I came to neuroscience, neurodesign, and neuroarchitecture.

Since then, I have been exploring how spaces influence our emotional and mental state: how shapes, colors, textures, and materials can help us feel better, more at peace, more connected with ourselves, because an environment is not only inhabited — it also transforms us.

But at some point, that way of creating was no longer enough There was something deeper I longed to express
And that is how this project was born

Iraida Maeso is my way of translating that sensitivity into pieces.

Contemporary designs that are not only handmade, but conceived to accompany on an emotional and sensory level. Each textile composition is born from an intention: to convey serenity, to invite pause, to create spaces that bring us back to what is essential.

Creating with coherence01

This project was born from a personal quest: to live with more calm, with more meaning. Each textile creation reflects that intention.

I do not follow trends: I design from what moves me, what I study, and what I feel.

Textile works that are felt02

They are not just decorative textiles. They are sensory experiences. Pieces designed to be seen, touched, smelled, and lived with. So that the space is not only beautiful, but also brings you back to yourself.

The space also cares03

The environments we inhabit influence how we feel. My pieces are created to accompany you, to help you pause, and to remind you that beauty can also heal.

To care is also to create04

I craft each textile composition with respect for the materials, the environment, and the people. From local and ethical production to socially responsible packaging, everything is part of a conscious process that highlights what truly matters: quality, connection, and care.

Craftsmanship, well-being, and emotion

I work with natural fibers Craftsmanship, well-being, and emotion, slow processes, and intuitive compositions that seek to generate well-being Craftsmanship, well-being, and emotion through the form, the texture, and the subtle presence of each piece Craftsmanship, well-being, and emotion.

I place intention in every thread, in every shape, in every silence between one cord and the next. Because I don’t believe in what is superficial — I believe in what leaves a mark.

“Each piece is unique. Not only because of how it is made, but because of the intention that inhabits it. To be a refuge where one lingers a little longer.”
